Germany has Europe's largest economy and one of the most distinct cultures in the world. The country is still in the process of unifying after the cold war and there are definite divisions between East and West, although these are gradually being addressed. This situation is unsurprising, given that Germany as we know it didn't come into existence until the latter half of the nineteenth century, having previously been a collection of autonomous states.

Despite its troubles, Germany has long dominated European politics and business. Because of this, business language training is big business in Germany and her neighbours. For many people in the smaller European states, a course to learn German is essential to get ahead in business. While most international business in Europe, and indeed the world, is conducted in English, a grasp of German is definitely helpful when dealing with German companies.

Austria

Traditionally one of Germany's greatest allies in Europe, Austria is one of Western Europe's landlocked powers. A German-speaking nation, Austria is an ideal place to learn German. A German course in Austria should give you an excellent grounding in the language.

Switzerland

A German course in Switzerland offers the perfect opportunity to sample some of the finest mountainous countryside in Europe, if not the world. The Swiss Alps offer excellent skiing conditions in the winter and perfect trails for hikers and bikers during the summer months.

Germany

The first place that comes to mind when booking a German course abroad will always be Germany. A German course in Germany offers the perfect opportunity to explore the country's stunning countryside and modern, cosmopolitan cities with the confidence to communicate with the friendly and welcoming German people.

Hamburg

Hamburg is a famous port city - the second largest in Europe and the largest that isn't a capital city. It is also, by population, the largest city in the EU that is not a capital city. If you learn German in Hamburg, you are in the perfect position to deal with a number of Germany's largest businesses, including roughly half of the country's newspapers and a selection of record labels.

Berlin

The capital city of Germany is the second most populous city in the EU, behind British capital London. If you learn German in Berlin you will have access to arguably Germany's most varied and vibrant nightlife, not to mention a selection of the most respected educational institutions in Europe. The city resonates with history, with the first documentation of the city being in the 13th century.

Munich

It is hard not to feel some affection for a city with the motto "Munich likes you". Thousands of people come from around the world to learn German in Munich each year and it's easy to see why. The capital of Bavaria is a major European hub and offers a fantastic quality of life, which was rated the fifth highest in the world, in a recent study. Bayern Munich is one of Europe's great football teams and has numerous European Cups to show for it.
